Outer Northern Trade Training Centre (ONTTC)
The Outer Northern Trade Training Centre (ONTTC) is a trade training centre that provides secondary school students in and around the Northern suburbs the opportunity to enrol and complete vocational training in four trades: Automotive, Building & Construction Carpentry, Electro-technology and Plumbing.
ONTTC commenced operations in January 2013. It is a state of the art facility with modern training equipment that reflects the needs of industry.
This facility is a real asset to young people in the northern community who are keen to follow trade pathways.
Our centre has dedicated training areas for the four trades starting with Automotive:
This includes a fully equipped workshop which includes following: theory rooms, four hoists, tyre fitting machine, diagnostic tools, disc lathe, wheel balancer and a comprehensive range of general tooling and equipment to meet the needs of the course on offer.
Building and Construction
The construction training area has a generous layout for 20 or more students providing dedicated workbenches, a machine shop complete with thicknesser, table and radial saws. There is an undercover outdoor area that allows the construction of a model house including walls, roofing and subfloor set out. Also there are four model houses that allow the carpentry students to work on windows and doors.
With an open theory room and plenty of workbenches this area enables students to gain skills in basic electrical fundamentals and combined with the open area model houses these students will learn about fixing and basic building structures.
The plumbing area has both theory and practical spaces to allow complete delivery of all course requirements. This also includes hot water services, sub floor areas for under house plumbing and the use of model houses for rough-ins.
